The March 28th & April 4th Sopchoppy Opry shows have been cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns. Schedule will resume with the April 25th show.

Margo Anderson & Mike Purvis in Special Tribute Show March 28!

Hello Country music fans! The 2020 season at the Sopchoppy Opry in historic Sopchoppy School Auditorium continues March 28 – 7 pm when two of the tri-states most talented and popular entertainers come to town! It’s Margo Anderson and Mike Purvis in a special musical tribute to legendary performers Patsy Cline and Willie Nelson!

Together for the first time on the Opry stage and with musical accompanied by the fantastic Encore Band, Margo Anderson & Mike Purvis will perform the great songs of country music’s most famous stars! Hits like ‘Crazy’, I Fall to Pieces’ and ‘I Go Out Walking After Midnight’ and ‘Angels Flying Too Close to the Ground’, ‘On the Road Again’, ‘The Last Thing I Needed (first thing this morning)’ are but a few of the great songs you’ll hear during this concert of musical tribute and fun! Tickets are $15 and may be reserved by calling (850) 962-3711 or purchased at the door.

The Sopchoppy Opry is now in its 20th year and all events are family oriented. No alcoholic beverages, smoking or inappropriate language allowed. So bring the whole family! The music is real country, like the kind we grew up with and listened to on Saturday night radio from the Grand Ole Opry! There’s convenient parking and security services are provided by the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office.

Come early and dine in the Opry Café before the show. There’s always a delicious entrée along with BBQ sandwiches, hotdogs and a variety of home prepared desserts made exclusively and especially for Opry fans! Purvis Brothers will play the Opry April 4!

The Sopchoppy Opry is now in its 20th year and the area’s most popular music showplace keeps rolling along in style!  Coming up Saturday night, April 4 – 7 pm, the fabulous Purvis Brothers & Encore will perform for Opry fans and SHS Alumni! This special show will feature music of the 40’s, 50’s & 60’s as graduates, teachers, employees and friends of historic Sopchoppy School gather for a weekend of fun! Better get your tickets early for this one, call 962-3711 and reserve your seats! Every Sopchoppy Opry is a classic and fans come from all over to enjoy the show performed in the tradition and atmosphere of the original ‘Grand Ole Opry’.

The Purvis Brothers – Mike, Frank & Wendall – are the pride and joy of Monticello, Florida where they have made music together for the past 35 years. The brothers, proud of their rural heritage and upbringing learned early how to play and sing at church worship services and social gatherings. Their talent and performing savvy was soon discovered and they’ve become a tradition at all the popular venues around the Big Bend. The Purvis Brothers are known for their musical skills all the way to Nashville! Stars visiting the area often request the Purvis’ to provide musical accompaniment for their shows. Mike Purvis, lead vocalist/guitarist for the group, is a veterinarian and college professor. Brother Frank, the electric bass player is a plantation manager in real life and sings harmony with Mike & Wendell. Brother Wendell plays rhythm guitar and sings lead and harmony vocals. He is a computer consultant in his day job and a hobby hot air balloon pilot. Encore musicians appearing with the Purvis Brothers are Myron Spainhour, keyboardist/vocals; Ronnie Weeks, percussionist/vocals; Larry Bullock, petal steel guitar and fiddle extraordinaire, Wayne Martin.
