The Purvis Brothers – Mike, Frank & Wendall – are the pride and joy of Monticello, Florida where they have made music together for the past 30 years. The brothers – proud of their rural heritage and upbringing, learned how to play and sing at church worship services and social gatherings! Their talent and performing savvy was soon discovered and they’ve become a tradition at all the popular venues around the Big Bend and all the way to Nashville! Stars visiting the area often request the Purvis’ to provide musical accompaniment for their shows. Mike Purvis, lead vocalist/guitarist for the group, is a veterinarian and college professor. Brother Frank, the electric bass player manages the Ted Turner Plantation in real life and sings harmony with Mike & Wendell. When asked why he’s enjoys playing music with his brothers, he says, “It keeps me close to Mike & Wendall. We’re all so busy and it’s easy to get distant. Playing music keeps us together.” Brother Wendell plays rhythm guitar and sings lead and harmony vocals. He is a computer consultant in his day job and a hobby hot air balloon pilot. Featured musicians also appearing with the Purvis Brothers band are Myron Spainhour, keyboardist/vocals and Ronnie Weeks, percussionist/vocals.
